Overview

The Sony FX30 is the APS-C version of the FX3 and offers many of the benefits of the Sony FX6 but in a form factor closer to the Sony a7S III but with some important modifications that make the FX30 an ideal hand-holdable, streamlined cinema camera. Here are the standout features:

  • With front and rear tally lamps, flat edges, fully customizable button layout, and 5 x 1/4"-20 mount points. This gives the FX30 a "cageless" design for expandability and no-fuss operability.
  • The optional XLR-equipped handle unit attaches to the multi-interface shoe, providing not only important mic connections (microphone not included) but also a comfortable and stable grip that's contoured for low-angle shooting. Handle is available separately.
  • Improved menu compared to the FX3, with quick access to frequently-used features and access to frame rates and other essential data while shooting.
  • Reliable and flexible focusing features, including subject tracking, AI-based subject recognition, and Real-Time Eye AF.
  • 16-bit raw out over HDMI in 4672 x 2628 (16:9) resolution for projects demanding the most post-production control.
  • S-Cinetone mode for matching to VENICE, FX9, or FX6 cameras plus S-Log3/2 gamut support and 10-bit HLG.
  • Worry-free and uninterrupted UHD 4K recording thanks to the FX30's innovative heat dissipation system without sacrificing dust and moisture resistance.
  • Access to familiar features from prior models, including 5-axis image stabilization and dual CFX Type A card slots (cards not included).

In addition to all the cinema-specific features, the FX30 is also able to shoot stills and offers a great ISO range. It is a powerful, yet accessible, cinema camera for aspiring content creators.
