Overview

The Sony RX10 IV improves on the RX10 III with a huge boost in AF points and shooting speed, a longer slow motion clip duration (7 seconds vs the prior 4 seconds), a touchscreen Lcd, enhanced focus peaking, and a revamped sensor that includes a new chip for overall increased speed and a better buffer. Enjoy improved tracking for both stills and video, even while recording 4K.

The RX10 IV introduces a new focus mode type: AF-A, which will automatically choose Single or Continuous AF mode depending on your scene. EyeAF mode is now more accurate thanks to the 315 phase detection points in addition to the previous 25 contrast-only points, which you can change with a simple touch of the Lcd screen. For video, the RX10 IV maintains S-Log2 but also provides S-Log3. This, in addition to the longer clips when shooting in High Frame Rate mode, makes this camera a great creative multimedia tool.

For stills shooting, the extended buffer allows for longer continuous bursts up to 249 when shooting JPEG. This is a great feature for sports and wildlife photography. You can also pull 8.29MP stills from 4K recordings. The built-in Zeiss lens offers a 25X zoom with an equivalent focal range of 24-600mm with a relatively fast maximum aperture range of 2.4-4. This, along with the built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, makes this camera particularly versatile for travelers who need one system that does everything. A tactile, de-clicked focusing ring is ideal for still and video shooters alike. The lens also focuses at an extremely close 1.2" with a .42X maximum magnification for macro subjects. The RX10 IV is ideal for students, second shooters, travelers, and multimedia creatives.
