It is powered through micro-usb and comes with both a micro-usb to usb-C cable and a micro-usb to Lightning cable. While designed for use with smartphones, you can certainly use this mic setup with your laptop using a micro-usb to standard usb A cable (not included). This is a plug-and-play device and you won't need any special drivers to use this with most Macs or PCs. However, to change any of the versatile settings (including polarity pattern) of this mic, you will need to set them using the Shure Motiv app. With the exception of gain, you cannot change any of the mic's internal settings on a computer.

There is a 3.5mm headphone jack on this mic for monitoring and you can control the monitoring mix via the app as well.
