The Rode NTG4+ Microphone features an innovative design that allows you to power the mic with phantom power from your device or off the built-in microusb rechargeable battery. It is versatile enough for mounting on a boom, in a handheld pistol grip, or on top of a camera directly for run-and-gun, ENG-style shooting. It sports a frequency range of 20 to 20,000 Hz, a sensitivity of -32 dB re 1 V/Pa, a dynamic range of 119 dB, a signal to noise-ratio of 78 dB SPL, and a maximum SPL of 135 dB from 48V phantom power (or use the internal battery). Note about the 48V phantom power: this mic will likely operate with only 12V or 24V sources but it will be starved, which may cause distortion.
The body of the mic includes 3 switching buttons: High Frequency Boost (designed for use with a blimp/windshield), Low Frequency Cut (good for infrasonic rumble from HVAC systems indoors or street traffic outdoors from over-powering the recording), and -10hahdB Pad (for loud sounds without clipping). You can also set the mic to remember which setting you prefer when powered back on next time. This microphone is good for anyone using it with a camera, field recorder, or audio adapter that has an XLR-3F input port. You can also use the included 1.5' XLR to 1/8" audio cable for direct connection to any DSLR that has a 1/8" port. This microphone is a great option for documentary work and events.
