Special Note: All of our G9 rentals have been updated to at least Firmware 2.0, which expands video functions to include 4K30p 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording, 4K60p 4:2:2 10-bit out, and Variable Frame Rate and HDR recording. Animal Detect AF has also been added.

The Panasonic G9 is a stills-focused sibling to the video-focused GH5S and GH5. It has massively improved features over prior models, like the G7, that photographers will love without sacrificing robust video capabilities:

  • Using sensor-shift stabilization technology inside a High Resolution Mode, you can capture a single 80MP raw file from 8 separate images shot in rapid succession with slight sensor shifts for an image up to 10368 x 7776!
  • 5-axis in-body image stabilization system with an up to 6.5 stop compensation capability, making this camera very suitable for low light conditions and shooting with slower shutter speeds while maintaining sharp results. This is also handy for video recording.
  • Focus Detect and Selective AF has been improved with 225 points (up from 49 in prior models) and a tactile joystick controller has been added for much faster point control.
  • To accelerate AF performance, the G9 is equipped with Advanced Depth-from-Defocus technology that much better calculates the distance to subjects while also allowing for up to 20 framers per second shooting speeds with continuous AF. This is complemented by a reworked shutter that is more durable.
  • For video shooters, enjoy 4K recording up to 60p at 150Mbps as well as a High Speed Video Mode for dramatic slow motion effects up to 180 FPS. A full size HDMI port is available for connecting to an optional external recorder to receive 8-bit 4:2:2 footage up to UHD 4K at 30p.
  • The Dual UHS-II SD slots allow for extremely efficient recording and storage while microphone and headphone jacks are available for professional sound and sound monitoring.

With built-in WiFi, extensive weather sealing, a 3" touchscreen fully articulating LCD screen, and a massive 0.83x magnification OLED Live Viewfinder, the G9 is a great solution for hybrid shooters and is ideal for events, travel, and multimedia projects.
