Overview

The Panasonic GH6 is the latest flagship GH camera for 2022. Panasonic is continuing a tradition that began in 2009 of delivering high-quality micro four thirds digital cameras with photo/video hybrid sensibilities. Over time, Panasonic has broken barriers with innovative features that appeal to shooters of both mediums. Beloved by creators worldwide, Panasonic continues to listen to its users and iterate on their versatile GH cameras. Here are some of the top features (and improvements) of the GH6:

  • Increased effective pixel count by more than 20% over prior models.
  • New Venus Engine with double the power of prior models, with advanced image processing tech, natural noise texture, and more accurate color reproduction. Overall processing speed has been tripled over prior models and rolling shutter effects have been greatly reduced.
  • Built-in V-Log/V-Gamut with 12+ stops of dynamic range (13+ in Dynamic Range Boost mode), plus access to beautiful picture profiles like L. Classic Neo (film-like soft coloring), L. Monochrome S, and Cinelike modes.
  • 4:2:2 10-bit C4K60p unlimited video recording and up to 3 hour clips for other settings. Records 5.7K60, 4K120 and 1080p300, plus 5.7K30 in Apple ProRes 422 HQ a first for any Lumix camera.
  • Versatile slow motion effects with high frame rate 4K up to 120p or 1080p up to 240p. When forgoing a scratch track, you can get up to 300 FPS variable frame rate footage in 10-bit full HD.
  • 5.8K30 and 4.4K60 anamorphic 4:3 recording using the full area of the sensor. Plus, store up to 10 anamorphic lenses in settings for quick swaps and ready-to-view, desqueezed footage.
  • 7.5 stops of in-body 5-axis image stabilization using high-precision gyros.
  • Merge multiple images of still subjects for up to 100MP (11552 x 8672) photos in High Resolution Mode.
  • Enhanced 48kHz 24-bit audio recording capabilities that can be boosted to 96kHz 24-bit with an external mic. For recording interviews with multiple microphones, HDMI can output 4 channels of audio data.
  • USB-SSD direct recording, 4K120 HDMI Out during Live View, and 4K120 raw to the Ninja V+ all planned in future firmware releases.

With other small touches, like an additional recording button, dual ring selectors, extensive weather sealing, and static touch control on the fully-articulaing 3" LCD, the GH6 represents the best in compact cameras designed for professional use. This workhorse is as ready for independent cinema as it is for commercial product photography. It is a great blending of performance and mobility for creators of all styles.
