The Nikon D6 is Nikon's latest flagship, improving on the Nikon D5 with a new AF system, faster processor, dual CFexpress slots, and built-in WiFi/GPS. Here are some of the standout features of this professional DSLR:

  • Nikon's fastest camera to date, with a turbo-charged EXPEED 6 processor and reliable 14 FPS continuous shooting speeds.
  • A new, all-cross-type sensor AF system that allows you to set focus anywhere in the frame without recomposing.
  • Unbeatable low light performance up to 3,280,000 ISO
  • Advanced scene recognition that can make fine adjustments for the most accurate exposure, focus, white balance, and more.
  • Pro-grade weather sealing, illuminated controls, and high overall strength while being slightly lighter than the prior model.
  • Full-touch control high-resolution monitor.
  • Dual CFexpress card slots for the fastest, most reliable footage capturing.
  • 20 unique Creative Picture Controls, along with multiple exposure settings, focus stacking, and more.

While designed for high-speed stills shooting, the Nikon D6 also has impressive video capabilities. Keep shooting up to 105 minutes in 4K UHD at an angle of view that approximates a 1.5x crop sensor or, optionally, full HD 1080p in FX mode. There is also a 1920 x 1080 crop movie format that produces a roughly 3x effective lens focal increase. For these crop formats, DX lenses may be used. You can shoot simultaneous external and internal footage and, for audio, you have your choice of an external mic jack with 30 different volume levels or internal stereo with 20-step increment adjustments. A dedicated power aperture button (Pv) allows you to achieve smooth, continuous exposure transitions when moving from light to dark areas. Maximize post-production flexibility with Nikon's video-optimized Flat Picture Control, which flattens the overall contrast curve for more control during color grading.

As with prior Nikon bodies, the D6 maintains complete compatibility with the Advanced Wireless Lighting system. You can add an optional WR-A10 wireless remote adapter (not included) to fire up to 6 groups of off-camera, radio-compatible Speedlights, such as the SB-5000 or SB-910. The D6 sports an ultra-fast wired LAN communication system that is about 15% faster than the Nikon D5 for seamless image/footage transfer. The D6 is a workhorse DSLR suitable for serious sports photographers, wedding shooters, journalism, videography of all kinds, landscape, wildlife, and corporate events.
