Overview

The Celestron NexStar 6SE 150mm f/10 Telescope has a SchmidtCassegrain style to maintain portability but without sacrificing a 6" diameter, which is a wide enough scope with enough light-gathering capabilities for deeper space observing mostly the moon but also the rings of Saturn and nebulae.

Using Celestron's proprietary StarBright XLT multi-coating system, light transmission is increased throughout the entire optical path with anti-reflection multi-coated lenses, highly-reflective multi-coated mirrors, and Crown optical glass elements. It comes with a NextStar+ computer hand controller, which is equipped with 40,000 celestial object presets and can hold an additional 200 user-defined destinations. When you begin, be sure to include your time and time zone and then align on two known stars. Then the computer will know its location and is able to automatically find declination and right ascension of any of the objects in its database. There is also a "Tour Mode" which shows you a selection of popular objects for the time and date you are observing.

The included tripod is extendable from 3' to 4' so that you can sit or stand when looking through the 60x magnification eyepiece. A focusing ring allows you to observe objects without your glasses on, if desired. This telescope is considered a "T-Mount" and will connect with a variety of cameras if you have the right adapter, but adapters are not included. This telescope is ideal for star enthusiasts, backyard astronomers, astrophotographers, students, teachers, and night sky workshops.

  • Please refer to the setup guide or user manual prior to use.
  • This telescope comes with a NextStar+ hand controller which is slightly different from the regular NextStar controller. Here is the addendum and guide showing the differences.
  • This telescope is considered a "T-Mount" and will connect with a variety of cameras if you have the right adapter for it. We offer adapters for the following cameras (all rentable separately):

    • Vivitar T-Mount to Canon EOS R Adapter
    • Vivitar T-Mount to Sony E Adapter
    • Vivitar T-Mount to Nikon Z Adapter
    • Celestron T-Mount to Canon EF Adapter
    • Celestron T-Mount to Nikon F Adapter

Please note that the connecting tube is narrow and on full frame 35mm sensor cameras there may be vignetting. Where possible, put your camera into APS-C mode if this happens. You can view objects using an included eyepiece/viewfinder or with your camera using one of the above adapters but you cannot use both at the same time.

      • This telescope can be powered by the included AC adapter or by (8) AA batteries. Batteries not included. A set should last approximately 4-6 hours, depending on settings.
      • Do not use this telescope for solar viewing without a strong solar filter, which is not included.
      • To control this telescope with your smartphone or tablet, you must use the Skyportal WiFi Module, which is not included.
      • As with regular telephoto lenses, your field of view narrows as the magnification increases. This will make objects harder to find and keep in frame.
