Overview

The Canon ME20F-SH is a unique, multi-purpose IR camera that features a newly-developed full frame 35mm CMOS sensor with an equivalent sensitivity above 4,000,000 ISO while capturing full color 1080p video up to 60 FPS. The large photosites on this sensor allow for exceptional low light performance in some of the darkest environments while the wide dynamic range and Canon Log gamma profiles help minimize the loss of shadow detail. This camera has a rugged, box-style design that can be easily configured for a variety of professional applications. Important: This camera is virtually unusable as-is. You must pair it with an external monitor and recorder to fully operate it, as it is not equipped with an LCD or memory card slots. Here are a few other important features of this camera:

  • Genlock input for camera switching during a multi-camera, live broadcast performance.
  • IR cut filter, which is used to block unwanted IR light to help ensure color fidelity and reproduction. Can be removed for infrared shooting.
  • Built-in 2x and 4x digital teleconverter to digitally double or quadruple the working distance of the lens you pair with this camera.
  • Push Auto Iris to automatically adjust the aperture of CINE-SERVO lenses (not included).
  • 3.5mm jack for attaching an external mic (not included).
  • Power the camera with the included AC cable or pair it with a Gold Mount broadcast battery (batteries not included but a Gold Mount adapter plate is included). There is also a 2-pin DC In connector.

This camera is essential for recording night wildlife but it is also a good choice for security, military, and law enforcement. It is also ideal for astro work, reality TV, and documentaries.
