Overview

The Canon C500 Mark II is the long-awaited sequel to Canon's onetime flagship, the C500, marking the next generation of Cinema EOS cameras. Positioned above the C300 but below the C700, the C500 Mark II combines some of the best features of its predecessors with new technology.

5.6K Full Frame Sensor Supporting Super 35 and Super 16

The high-resolution 5.6K full frame CMOS sensor offers an exceptionally broad range of tonality, with 15 stops of dynamic range and low noise. This is actually the same sensor found in the high-end C700, with native cinema gamut that goes beyond the current standards. This new system uses the latest DIGIC DV 7 image processor and operates in 3 distinct modes: Full Frame, Super 35mm, and Super 16mm. Capture footage in a wide variety of aspect ratios (including anamorphic widescreen), record internally in the Canon Cinema Raw Light codec, and shoot up to 120 FPS in 2K. The high-speed processor means you can simultaneously record 2K proxy files as XF-AVC 2K 4:2:0 8-bit to your SD card while recording Cinema Raw Light files (5.9K, 4K cropped, or 2K cropped) to internal CFexpress cards (cards not included). XF-AVC in 4K 4:2:2 10-bit is also supported. CFexpress cards, the successor of CFast, are reliable, fast, and designed specifically for high resolutions and frame rates. Equipped with both Canon Log 2 and Log 3, you also have complete flexibility in grading and color correction.

A Modular Design with Electronic Image Stabilization

Brand new to the Cinema EOS line is 5-axis electronic image stabilization. It is an advanced version of the system found in the recent EOS R line. When paired with a lens that supports data transmission, you can take advantage of Electronic IS on 3 axes for non-IS lenses and 5 axes for IS-equipped lenses. This body is extremely modular, with numerous accessory options. It boasts all your essential connections, including 12G-SDI, full size HDMI, and two XLR ports, and has 3 built-in motorized ND filters. The new, larger touchscreen Lcd monitor sports intuitive controllers while the expansive audio options allow you to assign the internal mic, the 3.5mm port, and the XLR ports to 4 different channels.

The Canon C500 Mark II is positioned to rival some of the biggest players in the game, including the ARRI ALEXA, Sony VENICE, and RED WEAPON, without losing some of the portability of cameras like the C200. It offers impressive usability with powerful options designed to give you full creative freedom.
