Overview

The Blackmagic Web Presenter allows an SDI or HDMI video source in SD, HD, or Ultra HD to appear as a USB webcam in 720p for easy, low data rate, high-quality streaming for platforms such as YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Twitch, Periscope, and more, eliminating the need for streaming encoders. Here are a few of the other important features of this capture device:

  • Provides clean-looking web video from sources up to 2160p60.
  • Plug-and-play design: simply connect your video source, whether a professional video camera or DSLR/mirrorless camera, via SDI or HDMI to the Blackmagic Web Presenter and connect it to your computer/laptop's USB port. It will work with any software that supports video from a webcam (like Skype, Open Broadcaster, or XSplit Broadcaster) because it is a standard UVC and UAC compatible USB device, so you dont need any drivers just plug it into your Mac, Windows, Linux, or Chromebook machine and it will think that your SDI or HDMI video camera (or game console) source is just a standard webcam.
  • Has a balanced XLR audio input for connecting a microphone, plus inputs for connecting iPods and other audio sources so you can add music or computer audio to your program.
  • HDMI loop out port that lets you use the Web Presenter between your computer/laptop and a video projector system. You also have the option of using the SDI Program out port, which does not down-convert your source to 720p.

At only 1.5" tall, just under 7" deep, and just over 5.5" wide, this little device is as portable as it is versatile. The Blackmagic Web Presenter is ideal for online webinars, tutorials, performances, or any web broadcast.

  • This is not a streaming device. This is a device that tricks your computer into thinking that your source, whether it is a video camera, DSLR, or game console, is a webcam in 720p (so long as your source is over SDI or HDMI and no higher in quality than 2160p60). Your computer and streaming software, whether it is Skype or an online service like YouTube Live, do this with available bandwidth. Please see the Description tab for more details.
  • To test that your setup is working: According to Blackmagic, Skype is ideal for checking if your unit is functioning correctly. Open Skype, go to the Preferences menu. Select the Audio/Video tab. Here, you can select Blackmagic Web Presenter as your "camera device". The video should appear right away in the preview window. If you cannot select Blackmagic Web Presenter as a video or audio source in Skype, it means your unit is not connected to your computer or not powered on.
  • If your audio and video are only going out of sync when streaming, this may be due to the streaming service provider. Also, check that your audio and video are arriving from the source in sync.
  • If you're experiencing interference, ensure that you are using a standard usb 2.0 cable that is no longer than 6.5'. Do not use usb extenders.
  • This device is designed to switch between 2 different videos sources coming from SDI and HDMI smoothly but only if they are running at the same resolution and frame rate.
