The Nikon D7100 Digital SLR Camera improves on the D7000 with more autofocus points, a higher megapixel count, and a lighter, weather-resistant build. It can also shoot 1080p HD video at a variety of speeds and the external mic and headphone jacks add more professional functionality while the dual SD card slots give you additional recording time (as well as easy backup for stills and video). This camera lacks an optical low-pass (anti-aliasing) filter. The optical low-pass filter prevents the instance of moire patterns from showing up in your images of tight-patterned objects, such as fabrics. In certain shooting situations, there is a benefit to shooting without this filter for maximum sharpness in landscapes. Full frame and crop frame format F mount lenses are compatible with this camera. It is designed for crop frame (DX) format lenses. When using full frame (FX) format lenses, your effective focal length is multiplied by 1.5x.
The image processor has been upgraded from the previous model for faster response time, more even tonal gradations, and reduced noise at higher ISOs. This camera is ideal for events, candids, travel, and video projects.
