Overview

The Nikon Z7 II Mirrorless camera is the anticipated followup to Nikon's debut full frame Z7 mirrorless camera. It maintains the ultra-high 45.7 megapixel resolution and the large, light-gathering Z mount of its predecessor but with a few perfection-seeking changes:

  • Powered by two EXPEED 6 processing engines a first for Nikon.
  • Flexibility in memory card compatibility with dual slots. The Z7 II accepts XQD, CFexpress Type B, and SD (UHS-II) cards.
  • Improved intelligent Eye-Detection AF with a new Wide-Area (L) Mode to set boundaries for eye seeking. These features are now also available when recording video.
  • More in-camera features including combining up to 10 exposures, 900-second exposures for light painting, and focus shifting up to 300 frames.
  • Bigger buffer for better continuous shooting performance and up to 10 FPS shooting speeds.
  • Recording options in 4K UHD at 60p (8-bit/93% of of sensor full sensor at 30, 25, and 24p) and slow motion in 1080p120.
  • Option to record externally over HDMI-C to capture 10-bit N-Log or HDR (HLG) footage.
  • 5-axis image sensor shift stabilization (with lens shift when paired with VR lenses).
  • Reverse focus rotation setting for those used to non-Nikon cinema lenses.
  • Seamless pairing with a number of updated software options at Nikonusa.com: the SnapBridge app for remote shooting, the Wireless Transmitter utility for direct wireless transfer of full resolution raw files to a PC or Mac, or the Webcam utility for seamless streaming over USB-C.
  • Improved viewfinder with minimal blackouts when shooting high speeds.

At the heart of this camera is the large-diameter Z mount system that is compatible with Nikon's sleek and fast Z mount lenses (lenses not included). The larger mount and reduced flange distance of the Z line of cameras means Nikon Z lenses have amazing light-gathering rear elements and ultra-fast apertures. They have been specifically optimized for this high resolution, full frame system. The Nikon Z7 II is ideal for portraits, fine art, and filmmaking.
