Overview

The Fuji X100V is an elegant compact with a retro design, a satin coating, and fully-tactile dials. Combining the physical features of the analog world with the capabilities of the latest digital tech, the X100V is advanced while still being intuitive and fun to use. Fuji took some of the best features of their larger cameras and incorporated them into this small, stylish package, making the X100V one of the most versatile compacts to date. Here are some of the standout features of this unique system:

Redesigned Lens, Touchscreen Control, and Improved Viewfinder

The X100V maintains the same angle of view and aperture range of the prior X100 models but the glass itself has been reworked in order to maintain the resolving power needed for expressing every detail of the new X-Trans CMOS 4 Sensor. This means better overall resolution, lower distortion, and an improved minimum focusing distance all without losing compatibility with conversion lenses and other X100 accessories. This camera is compatible with optional conversion lenses, such as the Fuji TCL-X100 II Telephoto Conversion Lens and Fuji WCL-X100 II Wide Conversion Lens (not included). The X100V also integrates digital teleconverters to simulate the fields of view of 50mm and 75mm-equivalent lenses as well as maintained built-in ND filters of prior models. These features work in tandem with a hybrid optical/electronic viewfinger that's bigger and features an OLED panel. The tilting touchscreen LCD, rear joystick, front and rear command dials, and traditional-style top panel provides a multitude of settings/composition options for photographers.

High-Resolution Video Recording

Record 4K video up to 30 frames per second or capture slow motion footage at 1080p. Record 4:2:2, 10-bit out via micro-HDMI and use external microphones via the 2.5mm jack (can't be used with mics that require external power). Take advantage of Fuji's F-Log for easy color grading later, or use Fuji's beautiful film simulations, such as ETERNA, which is characterized by subdued color and rich shadow tones. The sensor's read speed is faster than prior models and rolling shutter distortion has been greatly reduced for smooth, more natural-looking footage of fast-moving subjects. The new touchscreen also features a Movie Silent Control option, which sends exposure settings to the screen to be controlled there quietly a great option for weddings and other ceremonies.

High-Speed Stills Shooting and Beautiful Film Simulations

The X100V's speed is an impressive 11 frames per second (20 with the electronic shutter). At full resolution, the buffer handles up to 17 raw files. Combine this with the longer overall battery life (350 shots per charge, more when using the OVF) and you have the ideal camera for street photography and vacations. The AF system overall has been improved as well, with 425 selectable points covering nearly the entire sensor. This is supported by the quad-core CPU.

Other really fun features include in-camera multiple exposures, natural film grain effects, and Fuji's famed film simulation filters. Fuji maintained their classic Film Simulations in the X100V while offering a few newer expressions. With Monochrome Adjustment, you can now create warm or cool-toned versions of Monochrome and ACROS. With Color Chrome, you can create images with deeper color saturation and better gradation or do the same with Chrome Blue to only affect blue hues in your scene. A new simulation, Classic Negative, enhances color with hard tonality to increase image depth. It is based on the Fujicolor Superia 100 film of the 1980s.

The Fuji X100V Mirrorless Digital camera is a great carry-with-you-everywhere camera. Its sharp, fixed-length prime lens gives you a back-to-basics feeling, along with the physical control dials and overall retro build. The FPS speeds, tilting touchscreen, and EFV provide you with the modern tools needed for comfortable capturing of nearly any subject. It is recommended for street photographers, journalists, vloggers, travelers, and anyone else looking for a fun, high-quality camera for an event or assignment.
