Huge Back-Illuminated Sensor Supported by New Processor
This sensor is 1.7x larger than a 35mm full frame sensor, with a 55mm diagonal length for ultra-high image resolution. Fuji designed the original line of GF medium format lenses for 100MP sensors, so all existing G mount Fuji lenses will resolve flawlessly with this new sensor. The G mount has a short flange distance to prevent peripheral light falloff for stunning edge-to-edge sharpness. Supporting this is the X-Processor 4 engine that is capable of optimizing data quickly from such a large sensor. Shoot up to 5 frames per second, which is very fast for a system like this, and shoot raw with 10-bit color depth or TIFF files at 16-bit. These files show incredible dynamic range, rich shadow detail, and high color fidelity. The back-illuminated structure of the sensor brings the exposure plane closer to the color filter array to reduce noise – allowing for a native ISO of 100. This camera also omits the optical low-pass (anti-aliasing) filter, which maximizes sharpness for raw and benefits landscape shooters in particular. With larger individual pixels, this sensor produces that characteristic three dimensional medium format look that is timeless.
Full Sensor Width 4K Recording
With a sensor larger than most cinema sensors, you can take full advantage of massive depth of field options, enhanced tonal gradation, and greater ISO sensitivity – all at 4K/30p up to 400Mbps at 4:2:0 10-bit (4:2:2 uncompressed via HDMI). Record simultaneously internally to dual UHS-II SDs and externally over HDMI. The processor can also handle monitoring your footage on the camera's LCD as well as on an external monitor while sending uncompressed data to a recorder. Enjoy Fuji's F-Log or use the Hybrid Log Gamma format for advanced color grading in post production. The astounding 3,760,000 point phase detection autofocus system keeps up with the demands of still photographers and videographers alike, with accurate subject tracking and face detection. With its quad CPU, the Fuji GFX 100 is able to maintain fast read speeds while reducing rolling shutter distortion when filming moving subjects. Rounding out these video features is a 3.5mm microphone jack, 3.5mm headphone jack, built-in interval shooting for time lapses, and access to Fuji's famed Film Simulations, including their cinematic Eterna.
Modular Functionality and Enhanced Composition Features
Equipped with a high magnification, high definition electronic viewfinder, composing with the GFX 100 is a delight. The EVF sports 100% coverage while a sub-monitor on the rear panel displays specific data that crowded up the main LCD on prior models. Now you can dedicate the main LCD to framing and quickly review items like your histogram, exposure compensation, and more on the sub-monitor. The top panel features a 1.8" sub-LCD, which displays all of your main shooting settings and is customizable. The main LCD monitor also has 100% coverage, is 3.2" large, and tilts in 3 directions. Touchscreen functionality makes framing and selecting AF points intuitive. Optionally, attach the EVF directly to an EVF-TL1 adapter (not included) so that you can take advantage of vertical tilt and horizontal rotation while shooting. This is a great option for waist-level shooting and also makes shooting in portrait orientation easier. Even though this camera has a large sensor and built-in image stabilization (a first for a mirrorless body with a sensor of this size), it is about the same overall size as a pro-body DSLR and clocks in at only 3 lbs with 2 batteries and 2 cards installed. The built-in vertical battery grip of this camera means you can shoot up to 800 stills before having to recharge. Power the camera continuously with readily-available USB-C. If you're using a power delivery source of over 30W, you can simultaneously charge the 2 batteries. The USB-C port can also be used for high-speed image/footage transfer.
Expanded Workflow Options
Portrait shooters will enjoy the quick 1/4000th of a second flash sync speeds when paired with the optional Fuji EF-X500 Flash (not included), which acts as an optical master transmitter and features a build-in LED (sync speed is 1/125 otherwise). Download the free FUJIFILM X RAW STUDIO software to quickly convert raw files while retaining full image quality, even in large batches. There are now also 4 tethering options for studio shooters, which you can explore on Fuji's site.
The Fuji GFX 100 Medium Format Camera represents the next generation of high quality imaging. It has redefined medium format shooting for the digital age and is a premiere choice for pro shooters of landscapes, editorial, portraits, commercial assignments, fine art projects, and multimedia work.
