Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8 Tilt-Shift Lens
The Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8 Tilt-Shift is a special purpose lens that allows one to tilt and to shift the lens to mimic the movements of large format cameras for serious landscape, studio, tabletop, and architectural photography. It was designed with UD glass to compensate for chromatic aberrations and Subwavelength Structure Coating specially designed by Canon to control ghosting and flare. The tilt-shift function on this 90mm lens allows adjustment of the focal plane by an angle of +/-8º and enables parallel shift of the optical axis by +/-11mm. Both tilt and shift can be engaged singly and in combination. The tilt-shift rotation mechanism locks at right angle and at parallel and clicks at 45º and the lens mount itself can rotate left or right by 90º with click-stop adjustment each 30º. This tilt-shift also uses a circular aperture for beautiful out-of-focus areas. You can also use this lens without tilting or shifting as a normal wide angle. You can also use the tilting and shifting "incorrectly" for a miniature effect. It works hand-held but for the most precise results this lens works best on a tripod. Ideally the movements need to be done very carefully for the best results. The length of this particular tilt-shift lens makes it also very suitable for portrait work.
