  • Rent Canon Cameras, Canon Lenses, & Canon Accessories

Canon fans are in luck! When you rent from BorrowLenses, you get to pick from an impressive variety of Canon cameras and lenses. Photographers, vloggers, filmmakers, and multimedia artists, from beginner to advanced, enjoy the convenience and selection of our cameras, lenses, lighting, and production equipment with low (or no) deposits for most rentals. The best part is you have access to the newest technology when you need it and not just when you've saved enough to buy it.

BL carries Canon L-series lenses for both DSLR EF mount and for RF mount, which are compatible with Canon's latest mirrorless line of EOS R cameras. We also offer great budget-friendly lenses from 3rd party manufacturers, such as Tokina and Tamron, as well as EF mount options from Sigma and Zeiss.

The Benefits of Renting Canon Gear from BL

There are rentals for a lot of things, from power tools to purses, but you might not realize just how useful renting photo and video equipment is. For one, buying the gear you want for each of the types of gigs you do can get very expensive – prohibitively so for the hobbyist. But that doesn't mean you should go without trying the latest tech! Here are just a few of the benefits of renting:

  • • Convenience when traveling. Leave your personal gear at home and eliminate the risk of it getting broken or stolen.
  • • Special occasions. Photographing air shows once a year is the perfect use case for renting vs shelling out upwards of 10K on a super telephoto lens!
  • • Gain experience. Don't learn on the job – study a piece of gear ahead of time! Rent a camera or lighting kit and get hands-on with it before jumping into a major event – assistants, take note!
  • • Low-cost testing. Not sure if you want to upgrade or if some certain new shiny system will work with your current accessories? Instead of using credit to purchase something expensive and relying too much on a decent returns policy, why not just borrow the item for as little as dollars a day?

What You Can Expect When Renting Canon Equipment

Canon gear is offered in a variety of mount types, the most common being EF mount. This is what you'll find on cameras like the 5D Mark IV and 1D X Mark III. Pair these cameras with any EF mount lens, from 15mm fisheyes to 800mm super-teles. For the highest quality, look for EF mount lenses from the L series, which offers fast maximum apertures, image stabilization, and other professional features.

Want to take advantage of the latest high-resolution mirrorless cameras? Check out Canon's EOS R cameras and RF mount lenses, which offer Canon's newest optical technologies for greater brightness and better overall image performance. And if you want to just try out an EOS R camera but only own EF-mount lenses, you can simply rent an adapter!

Pay attention to what size sensor you're working with. For EF mount shooters, Canon DLSRs offer both full frame and crop frame sensor varieties. EF-S lenses are designed specifically for crop frame/ASP-C sensors and will not mount to full frame EF mount cameras. However, EF mount lenses will mount to both! If you ever have any trouble figuring out which lens goes with which camera, our crew at BL are all shooters themselves and are happy to walk you through every step of the way! Contact BL for assistance on your gear order.

For a few recommendations right off the bat, check out these customer favorites:

  • Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L: This Canon zoom lens is a go-to for many professionals at weddings and events due to its versatility. Having the ability to shoot with the wide 24mm focal length is great for landscapes and setting the scene. The 70mm focal length is excellent for portraits and the large maximum aperture means beautiful out-of-focus backgrounds. Part of Canon's L series, this is an incredibly high quality "everyday lens".

  • Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III: This is one of Canon's most popular telephoto lenses. It has a great focal range for shooting weddings, sports, and nature. The 200mm end is great for getting up close to your subject from a safe distance, bringing the action – whatever it may be – to you. This lens is used for portraits as well. The image stabilization is offered in 3 modes, with one dedicated to panning. This is a great lens for sports, wildlife, safari, and fine art.

Don't shoot EF mount? Fortunately, Canon provides these same useful lengths in RF mount! Be sure to check out the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS and the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS.

Zoom lenses are an essential part of any shooter's kit but sometimes an assignment calls for only the sharpest results and creamiest bokeh. For this, you'll want a prime lens. Here are a few customer favorites:

  • Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L: This is one of Canon's most popular portrait lenses. This fast prime has a maximum aperture of f/1.2, which is great for low light and creates superb bokeh, separating your subject from the background beautifully. Approximating what the human eye sees, more or less, the 50mm length is a great starting point for anyone studying composition.

  • Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro: What makes this macro lens unique is that it doubles as an amazing portrait lens, so if you want to shoot a coin collection for an auction and a lovely wedding scene in the same weekend, this lens is for you.

How Much Does it Cost to Rent a Canon Camera?

Canon lenses rent for as little as $15 a week for small street photography style primes, all the way up to up to $1,200 a week for professional cinema lenses that retail around $30,000! This is why renting is such a great option for burgeoning filmmakers who don't have big Hollywood budgets but have important personal projects to create. For cameras, you can take home DSRLs, mirrorless systems, camcorders, and professional cinema setups at prices suitable for both budget-minded beginners and high-end corporate clients alike, depending on the exact make and model you need and for how long. For example, do you need something for an event that will shoot 4K, capture slow motion footage, and zoom in close but you don't want to own a camcorder? You can get the Canon XF405 for as little as $127 for a long weekend gathering or school game!

BL gear experts are here to help. With locations on both the east and west coasts, you will love the quick shipping and expert service.
