Matthew: The product is good...once you figure out how to set it up and balance it. First, there are no instructions so it might be a little confusing how to set it up and which pieces of hardware to use and how to attach the camera. Thats not the hard part though, the hard part is balancing it. The way the steadicam works, is you hold a little handle with your right hand, and use the fingers of your left hand to barely hold the shaft of the steadicam. When you first set it up and put the camera on it, when you hold the handle, the steadicam will be moving everywhere because it is on a completely rotatable head. The key is to adjust the steadicam until it is perfectly balanced and will stay perfectly verticle when you hold it. Without any prior experience, this will seem almost impossible. I had to film a wedding the next day, and was up till 3 am trying to figure out how to balance it. My suggestion, don't think you can figure it out on your own, go on youtube and watch a couple of videos on how to do it, then re-watch them. It will still be hard and will probably take an hour or two to get it balanced. On your first time, it will not be perfectly balanced, so don't strive for perfection, just try your best. Once you get it balanced, the motion will not be perfectly smooth. It takes practice to get smooth motion. I was filming a wedding for 8 hours, and it wasn't until the end of the wedding that I was finally getting the hang of it. TAKE MY ADVICE, rent this item at least a week or two before your shoot, learn how to balance it, and practice shooting with it. Do this for a few days, then return it, and rent again for your shoot. It will be a little extra money, but if you rent this the night before your shoot, you will be stressed trying to figure out how to balance it, and your shooting will not be as good as it can be. This is essential if you are going to be filming something that requires prolonged moving shots, such as a wedding. I decided I would pick it up the night before because I knew I would be able to figure it out and master it in one night, I didn't listen to the advice of other reviewers, and I got less than great footage because of it, so please please please take my advice. If you are already experienced with this item, then you can obviously disregard everything I am saying, this is for new users. Once you figure out how to use it, then the product is very good.

PRODDK MEDIA: Very useful and handy, normally I have my rig on a shoulder mount or tripod. But with the Glide Cam 4000 we were able to free our self’s from the shoulder mount and tripod. Easy to use and setup, It might take some practice to get your shots stable but once you get the hang of it its downhill from there. FYI if you don't have a vest, strip your camera or rig down, the weight will drag you down with time. I would like to see a combination of Glide Cam with the vest as a rental. Over all the Glide Cam 4000 is very handy and the final shots are just professional.

Lee: I rented this for a wedding I was shooting. I wanted it mainly for shots of the dance floor and general reception shots, but I used it for a lot more than that. I would like to see BorrowLenses supply a quick release plate along with the Glidecam, because the only way to get the camera on and off was to unscrew the 4 locking screws of the baseplate, then unscrew the main screw that attaches to the camera. I really had to plan ahead with what I was going to use at what time. I also rented the Arm Brace for this, which made a world of difference, but it was still quite heavy, and my arm was sore for a couple days afterwords. Without the brace, I wouldn't have lasted 30 minutes. If you can splurge for the vest though, do it, you won't regret it. It can also be kinda confusing to get it balanced, but there are plenty of videos online that can help you with that. Be patient with it, and it will reward you with some great shots.
