Alyson: (Caveat / disclaimer: I'm a photography enthusiast, but not a pro by any means.) I travelled to Iceland recently for the first time with my Canon EOS Rebel T2i, and I rented the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens to complement my existing Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens -- the hope being that the dedicated wide-angle lens would have less distortion at the widest angles than my existing lens. I was a little surprised at the physical size of the 10-22mm lens, compared to my 18-135mm lens -- just as long, slightly wider, maybe a tiny bit lighter: http://flic.kr/p/bEovPS The lens performed beautifully with sweeping landscape shots. http://flic.kr/p/bUhVJN Some distortion became obvious, though, when people or recognizable shapes appeared in the sides of the frame: http://flic.kr/p/bF21yo For my purposes, the 10-22mm lens didn't make sense as an everyday / all-purpose lens, but it was fantastic for those times I wanted to capture a wide landscape shot. All told, I was very impressed and very happy with this lens. http://www.flickr.com/photos/alykat/tags/canonefs1022mmf3545usm/

Chris: I rented this lens last November to use on my old crop sensor camera, and it was such a fun lens to use! The image quality is great and the wide angles allow you to get some interesting artistic shots. This lens has it all over the 18-55 kit lens. If I hadn't upgraded from a crop sensor to the 5DMII, I would certainly have purchased a 10-22.

alibaba: This is a super fun lens, and picture quality is great compared to other wide angles. I rent this whenever the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 is not available. I took this to Yosemite and took some amazing landscape pictures with it. Due to the slow F-stop it's only good with a well lit environment or on a tripod, and due to the barrel size it blocks the integrated flash on most canons. On a crop body camera you barely notice any vignetting on the sides. The lens is mostly plasticy but well made and pretty light.

Ray: In getting ready for a trip to D.C. and NYC I needed a lens for my 60D that would be sharp, work indoors, outdoors, and at night. This lens did it and significantly exceeded all expectations. If you've been to either place, you know how difficult it can be to fit the entire building or room inside a photo, but this lens handled all situations with ease. In fact, my friends were amazed when we would stand on the sidewalk in front the massive Eisenhower Building (next to the White House) and the whole thing fit! We exchanged nearly as many double-takes as photos. NYC was equally enjoyable with it's sky scrapers, Central Park, and scenery. All that to say, this grown man nearly cried when the time came to send it back. That is until my wife said, "Now I know what to get you for Christmas."
