Description
The vaunted Bigma -- no other lens gives you this much focal range in a package than you can handhold all day long. It's a little heavy, but it's a toy compared to the Nikkor 500mm f/4 VR. Of course, the Bigma is not as fast as the Nikkor on the long end (f/4 versus f/6.3), nor does it have any type of VR, or as Sigma calls it, Optical Stabilization. But if you're shooting in decent light the Bigma is very sharp, and pretty snappy auto-focus too. In the end, this lens is a compromise but it's still very good glass for the money. And if you want to shoot at 500mm handheld, it's the only game in town.
