Description
This is the optically-stabilized (OS) version of the vaunted Bigma -- hence it's name, the Bigmos. No other lens gives you this much focal range in a package than you can handhold all day long. For those of you thinking it's amazing to rent a 500mm lens for such little money, please be aware that this lens is not even in the same league as a super-tele prime like the Nikkor 500mm f/4 VR. It's not as sharp, not as fast, and not as robustly designed. But if you're shooting in decent light the Bigmos is very sharp, and has pretty snappy auto-focus too. And if you want to shoot at 500mm handheld, it's the only game in town.

Randy: I rented this lens for a trip to Alaska, mainly for the wildlife. The lens is heavy but can be hand held in day light with the OS assist and give really great results. Sharpness from 400 to 500 was really good for hand held shooting in the 125 -750 shutter speed range. The only quirks were the really bad lens creep if the lens was not locked, the ease in inadvertently changing the OS and AF settings on the barrel and the fact that the zoom out/zoom in operates in the opposite turn direction from pretty much every lens I have ever used. I am not sure I would buy this piece of glass as my 70-200 does pretty much all the long reach I need, but would definitely rent it again for a wildlife/sports shoot. You really cant go wrong with this one, the 10-1 range covers a lot of area.

Trojan: For the price of this rental lens, this lens is awesome. I recently used this lens in Denali National Park and in other places in Alaska. I dont think words do justice to a review- see for yourself goo.gl/YB6Dz Denali national Park goo.gl/ptRox In both cases, I never used a tripod because of limited space. Also my tripod would not have been able to hold the weight of this lens! fantastic lens, very crisp even at 500mm.

Spawn148: Lens was awsome allowed me to get the close up I can't afford on my income. Was alomst on the heavy side for free handing but after a few lifts to get the corrct angle I become acustomed to it.
