"What have I done?!?" That is what I kept saying to myself as I was shooting this wedding. Yes, it was a budget wedding. Yes, I needed to save a few bucks. No, I should not have saved it on this lens. Is it a fine lens for a casual thing? Sure. If you are making money with your images stay away! 1. Focus is LOUD! I mean really loud. I read a few reviews on other site ahead of time and I thought, "it can't be that loud." It is, just trust me. 2. Slightly off focus all day. I use a D7000 and I know it can be slightly off on its own so I always am on single point focus and I really work to get it right. Many of the images were just a little soft and not super crisp. 3. Not as sharp of an image. I am not talking on focus, just just a little grainy when you get up close. I had to shoot some parts in iso 800 which I have done many times and the graininess is fine on my d7000. However, that iso with that lens? I was embarrassed to give them the images. Don't save the few bucks. Rent the Nikon version and be happy. I didn't give it one star because it did take some okay images.

Note: After testing in-house, we are finding that this lens does NOT work with the Nikon D40, D40x, D50, or D60. And although all the specs we find indicate that the II version of this lens works with the D40, D40x and D60 cameras, we are finding that not to be 100% true according to some of our customers. Please rent at your own risk until we figure out this issue. Also, this lens is not intended for use with full-frame (FX) digital cameras nor 35mm film cameras, and will vignette if you do not have autocrop enabled.
Lens rental package includes: Front cap, rear cap, UV filter, and lens hood.
Currently I have a 18-105mm lens for my D7000. It was recommended I not spend a lot of money on lenses until I improved my skills and really knew what I wanted or what would be useful for my style. My photography has made huge improvements and now I'm ready to start checking out lenses that I may want to purchase. I wanted something with a lower aperture and clearer crisp abilities for our vacation. I was told this was a great upgrade from a "kit lens". I thought I'd give it a shot for our Disney trip as it was a highly recommended lens for Disney. I fell in love with this lens and didn't want to send it back. I even got to use it at home for a couple of days and still loved it for everyday photos. I will definitely be buying this lens soon. Very sharp clear crisp photos. Super fast focus which was not loud to me. Loved the constant 2.8 aperture. If you need something with more zoom or a wider angle then this lens is not for you. I hardly found any need to have more than this lens all through Disney. I did use another lens for dark rides and a zoom for Animal Kingdom for the animals. This lens is fabulous.
