The 50mm prime is one of the most widely used autofocus lenses in all of photography -- and for a good reason. It's fast enough for shooting in just about any type of light, very affordable, and small enough to fit in a coat pocket. What's not to love? Especially when you can shoot close to wide-open and get out of this world bokeh!
This particular lens is a "D" lens (as opposed to the newer G lenses) and it's AF, not AF-S, so the auto-focus actually makes noise and is just a tick slower than the instant AF found on newer lenses. If this bothers you we carry the AF-S version as well, but for most people it will not cause you to miss shots or have a bad experience with this particular piece of kit.
