Ben - Should I Get It: This lens is terrific for extremely close-up macro work on a crop sensor body (D90, D700, D5100, etc.) and for portrait work. The focusing is quick for a macro lens but I would recommend using manual focus for macro photos and although it does have Vibration Reduction (VR) I would still recommend using a tripod for the sharpest possible shots. You'll see things you've never seen before and make sure you are patient when you shoot with this lens, for the best shoots be calm and let your subject move into the frame, don't scare it away. Whether your doing head shots, photographing insects, or making beautiful wallpapers of flowers, this is the lens to rent and you'll love it's extremely shallow depth of field.
