Description

The Nikon D700 takes everything you love (or lust?) about the flagship D3 camera body and stuffs it into a standard-sized body; offering professional level peformance and features without the D3's bulk and price tag. Sure, it doesn't have everything the D3 has, but it's got the important stuff, including:

  • 12MP full-frame FX sensor
  • Class-leading high ISO performance up to ISO 6400 native
  • Brilliant 3" high-resolution LCD
  • 51 Point Auto-focus system taken from the D3/D3s
  • Speedy 5fps framerate, boosted to 8fps with MB-D10 battery grip.

What does the D3 have that it does not have? The portrait grip for one, dual compact flash card slots for two, and the overall ruggedness and weather sealing of the D3, but that's about it. The ISO performance is the same, the sensor is the same, and image quality is the same -- which is to say its fantastic. The D700 does have an integrated sensor cleaning mechanism, which the D3 does not. Neither have video of course.

If you're renting this body because you're curious about Nikon or the full-frame world, be sure to rent one of the newer AF-S "G" type lenses (they are listed below) with it to really see it's true potential. The combination of these lenses on this full-frame body coupled with Nikon's pro-AF system will completely rock your world!
