Description
This is a ultra-compact, light-weight "all-in-one" zoom lens designed for both indoor and outdoor use, covering the standard to ultra telephoto range with no sacrifice of quality or aperture range. It has a constant minimum focus distance of 19.2", a high maximum magnification of 1:2.9, and XR (extra refractive index) glass.

Patricia: I rented this lens for 3 days as a trial for an upcoming trip to Nepal. Since I will be limited as to the gear I can bring I wanted a good single lens that I could use in most situations. The Tamron (at least the one I was sent) was horrible in picture quality at the 70-300 focal lengths. I did extensive testing, inside and outside, using a Nikon D300 camera, mounted on tripod, comparing images taken with the Tamron and a Nikon 70-300mm VR lens. The image quality was so poor on all photos taken with the Tamron that I did not even keep it the full 3 days of the rental period!
