Description
This is the orignal Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 ED VR, not the newer VR II model that is optimized for full-frame cameras like the D3, D700, etc. If you're using a crop-sensor cameras, like the D300, D90 or similar, this is *the* go-to lens for a huge variety of shooting environments, and the one you will want to trade a kidney to own it. It's sharp, has very fast and Silent Wave Motor (SWM) auto-focus and offers Vibration Reduction to compensate for camera shake. Like a cherry on top of a sundae, it also includes several Extra Low Dispersion glass elements, earning it the noble "ED" badge on its barrel.

Danny: Yes, this lens is heavy. Yes, your neck/shoulders/arms will hurt after shooting with this for a day. And, yes, this lens is every bit as excellent as you heard. The 70-200/2.8 is one of the best lenses I have ever used. Sharp at f/2.8. Pleasing bokeh. Fast auto-focus. No noticeable distortion at either end of the focal range. Built like a tank (weighs like one too). Any bad shots I got using this lens were purely user-error. Excellent for use with portraits, events, weddings, and sports.
