I loved renting this lens. It is SO sharp. It made my pics turn out very professional looking, even though I am only an amature who used it with a D5000. The bokeh is fantastic, and it seems to be the sharpest around f/2-3.5. The build quality is great, much more substantial than the 35mm f/1.8 that I usually used. This might be my most favorite out of all the lenses I have ever rented.

This is Nikon's flagship 50mm lens, and it's everything you would expect from a lens of this caliber with one exception -- it has a plastic outer shell instead of an all-metal construction. Optically, it's every bit as sharp as the 50mm f/1.4 AF lens but has faster, silent auto-focus care of its Silent Wave Motor (SWM) system. It's also a "G" lens, so there's no aperture ring on the barrel.
I'm just an amateur photographer (to the point where I'd be less likely to use the word "photographer" as much as "a guy who takes pictures"), but this was a great lens for me. It gave me some great pictures from my trip to Maine, especially when my son was running around. This was my first rental from BorrowLenses & it really was as easy as everyone made it out to be.
Excellent lens, VERY sharp, this lens is a needed lens when shooting FX, the auto focus is very fast and quiet, didn't seem to bother the dog I was photographing with it, even though some weird noises would bother her. Excellent bokeh on it, the large aperture helps for night shots. I usually used it around f/2 on a D3s and it performed beautifully. Excellent build quality, despite the lens being made with plastic. It is also very lightweight. Used the lens as well on a D60 (which is a DX/ 1.5x Crop camera) and it breathed some new life into the camera, the color reproduction is amazing with this lens.
