Description
This compact, lightweight, fully-featured zoom lens covers a wide 5.3x focal range, and is ideal for a wide range of shooting situations. It is suited for use with compact Nikon digital SLR cameras with the smaller DX size chip. It will conveniently cover everything from tight indoor portraits to medium telephoto shots. The improved Vibration Reduction (VRII) system allows handheld telephoto zoom shooting even in poorly lit conditions. It minimizes image blur caused by camera shake, and offers the equivalent of shooting at a shutter speed 4 stops faster. The Nikon Super Integrated Coating used in this lens minimizes ghosting and flare to provide even higher contrast and more vivid images, even in challenging light conditions.

Patrick : If you think you would like to rent or buy this lens because it is small enough and covers a wide focal range then you should do it. It is tack sharp, superbly built, contrasty, and reasonably sized. I shot in a dimply lit reception hall one night and the next day in high contrast daylight and it worked exactly as advertised in both situations. In dim light the lens is not fast but the aggressive VR II system allowed me to shoot with precariously low shutter speeds without problem. This is not really the lens for a lot of low light work but for the occasional low light scenario with a good (SB-700) flash, you will get satisfactory to great results without having to lug around a 2.8 zoom.
