This review may seem negative. I am mentioning the things that stood out and I would have liked to have known before renting; I would certainly consider renting it again or purchasing it if I had regular need. This product requires a phillips head screwdriver and may requires a 9/64" allen wrench to modify the mounting position of the anti-twist pins and to adjust the hight offset of the mounting plate* There is a small bit of flex and sway in the flash arm noticed while testing; the construction is otherwise very solid and the rotation is smooth and stops without slipping at the vertical and horizontal positions. Using the bracket requires a modified left hand grip. The front has a nicely padded palm position; the vertical padded grip seems useful only for carrying the assembled camera as a unit when any sort of manual zoom or focus control is desired. Use of a vertical release requires holding around the mounting plate. It takes a little getting used to but is generally fine. When used with a relatively (physically) short zoom e.g. 17-35,28-70 the rotation channel interferes with the "normal" operation of the zoom ring. It is still possible to zoom without any real problems given the understanding that a modified but not wholly unnatural grip is required. * More offset is desired for use of a vertical release. Specifically when using the Nikon SC-29 cable with focus assist the vertical left hand grip cannot be used as the holding hand obscures the FA beams. The SC-29 also requires the greater offset mounting position to keep the bracket itself from obscuring the FA beams.

The Custom Brackets Digital PRO-E Camera Rotation Bracket Kit is the economical choice for a pro-quality bracket for use with Digital SLR camera systems. The unique rotation system which rotates the camera around the center of the lens allows for locking not just at the vertical or horizontal axis but anywhere in between as well.
The kit includes the CMP Universal Camera Mounting Plate, which is a reversible camera plate that works with all cameras, with or without a vertical grip. The camera screw is also adjustable to match cameras of different depths.
