The Canon C500 takes the cinema camera technologies already developed with the EOS 1D-X and 4K RAW to the same form factor as the original C300. While DSLR Cameras like the 1D-X have been able to shoot 4K, the usage of these camera bodies can be a bit cumbersome. Canon’s production of the C300 Cinema Camera paved the way for the feel, layout, and comfort of shooting high quality video productions.

The camera has a Super35 (APS-C) sized CMOS sensor and is paired with the Canon DIGIC DV III image processor. It’s able to record footage in very low light situations. The C500 also supports both 4K and 2K Canon RAW output to external recording systems via dual 3G-SDI ports. Dual HD-SDI ports support live monitoring. 1080p and 720p content can be recorded at 50Mbps, 35Mbps, and 25Mbps at a range of frames per second on two dual CF cards.
