markol0: This is my most favorite lens in all BL inventory. I spent a whole month traveling around Europe with just this one lens, and could not have asked for anything more. the perfect walk around lens that covers almost all situations.
Lisa: I rented this lens about a month ago for my backup camera body for my second shooter. the 24-70mm is a must have lens for weddings. The focal range is a good mid-range and its very fast glass at 2.8. Love it..
Charles: This isn't a lens that I actually rented, because I own it. If you are shooting on a full frame, or APS-H (aka EOS-1D family) body, just get it On a crop body, you might be better off with the 17-55mm, but the 24-70, partiularly if you get a 'good copy' is an amazing lens
Bryce: If you need an all around great lens, this is the one. I fell in love with it while traveling to New York. I packed 3 of my lenses and rented this one and this is the one that stayed on my camera the whole time. My only problem with it was quite heavy, actually weighing more than my T2i. But other than that, the pictures came out phenomenal.
Colleen: This lens is absolutely wonderful! Living up to its L-series name, it produces beautifully sharp, colorful images with ease at every focal length. Its 2.8 aperture produces a gorgeous, creamy bokeh and its 24-70 focal length can handle most standard shots without problem. While it is a bit heavy, the weight is definitely a small price to pay for the quality images it produces. I will DEFINITELY rent this one again (or maybe buy it if I can convince my husband!)
jessica: I used for a wedding and shot with it most of the event. I loved it and will use for every wedding I shoot. Its very versatile which most photographers will agree is vital for weddings. Its a must have!
John: I was a little bit leary about renting this lens, because most of the cost of it dipped into what I was making on my assisting gig for a wedding. I was sold as soon as I got it out of the box. Absolutely solid build, and there was nothing wrong with it, not dirt, nothing wrong with the optics. My ex that I was shooting with at the time made fun of me for going with this lens thinking it wouldn't be as good as something wider, but she ended up stealing it for half of the gig. Absolutely beautiful pictures, totally clear, beautiful bokeh. My main suggestion is for you to go out and buy this lens, but if you don't have 1000+ to drop on it, and just need it for a few days to a few weeks, just rent it here. You'll end up making more off of the pictures that you shoot with it then it'll cost you. Can't wait to need to rent it again.
Kevin: Very heavy for a walk-around lens. I use a DIY strap similar to the BlackRapid so it was not an issue but keep that in mind if you rent for a vacation. Loved the photos it produced and the majority required no post work. Wonderful bokeh! Thanks again BL for another no hassle trip.
Ben: I rented this lens for a wedding I shot. It is a beautiful lens! The build quality and smooth operation are just amazing. The wedding was outside, so I also rented a neutral density filter to take advantage of the large 2.8 aperture and the beautiful bokeh of this lens. Some other reviewers mentioned the range of this lens. I used it on a cropped frame camera, so it had the equivalent range of 38-112mm. This range worked perfectly. In fact, it allowed me to get in very close, so I think I prefer it to a wider lens. I always had enough space to step back and get everything in frame. I think this lens is plenty wide enough for all but the very smallest rooms. One final note: be wary of the large aperture. You may be tempted to shoot at f/2.8 (and the lens looks really great at large apertures), but most of the time this will not give you enough depth of field. In most circumstances, I'd recommend stopping down to at least f/4.
Tony: Sharp as a tack throughout the focal length, this lens was a joy to work with. Just holding it in your hands, tells that this is a substantial lens. from 24mm, all the way to 70mm, image quality, just magnificient. Not the fastest piece of glass I had in my bag, but for quality, and just enough fast glass to tackle any situation, the 24mm-70mm is it. I plan to use this lens many times over.
