Le: Loved the camera. Sold my 5DII, IDsIII, and 1dIV recently in anticipaiton of this camera, but wanted to rent a 1Dx first before sinking that kind of money. Was even contemplating a switch to the D4, which I had played with a little at NAB. Not crazy about the way Nikon puts so many buttons and switches on the outside of the camera, but I know some people prefer this. I like menu driven choices and as little external crap as possible. Personal opinion. It's a Ford/Chevy thing, obviously. Really impressed with this camera. Tank-like build as expected. Beautiful images. No problems with focusing; it was fast and accurate. Even my 85mm 1.2 L II seemed to lock on faster. Don't know if I imagined this or not. I don't think the reduction in pixels compared to the 1Ds will be missed and the increase over the 1D is a bonus. And the incredible low light/high ISO ability was mind boggling. I shot video in near darkness and was amazed at how un-noisy and useable it was. This will be a game changer. Available light shooting is now unavailable light shooting. The ability to customize focusing patterns, focus points, camera control buttons is very nice. I may have to go back to college to figure out the instruction manual, but for the most part it's pretty intuitive. Thought I'd miss the SD card slot, but it's actually better to standardize on one format I think. On one shot, just one, the camera had trouble writing to the card and that one image was corrupted. This could be one of my cards has a bad pin or it was just a camera glitch, but it only happened for one frame. After seeing a photo of the huge stash of gear Canon is providing at the Olympics, my only wish is that a lot of that glass and those 1Dx's end up for sale as Canon Refurbs soon. Are you listening Canon?
Bert: This camera is amaazziing!! It can see in the dark and shoot at lightning speed. The build quality is so solid it just feels so good in your hands. I rented this for a Ballroom dance exhibition and it performed flawlessly. The autofocus with the 70-200mm 2.8L IS ii was so fast and accurate that I had only about 5% throw away images... pretty good since I've never shot a dance exhibition before. These dancers move fast! The only thing I regret from renting it is now that I've used this camera I HAVE to save my money and go buy one... Thanks borrowlenses for making me add one more thing to my gear list! =)
James: Exceptional camera body for shooting sports and/or when high FPS is needed. Quite an improvement over the 1DM4 re: custom settings and high ISO noise. Highly recommend the 1Dx.
