Description
The vaunted Bigma -- no other lens gives you this much focal range in a package than you can handhold all day long. It's a little heavy, but it's a toy compared to the Canon 500mm f/4 L IS USM  Of course, the Bigma is not as fast as the Canon on the long end (f/4 versus f/6.3), nor does it have any type of image stabilization, or as Sigma calls it, Optical Stabilization (OS). But if you're shooting in decent light the Bigma is very sharp, and pretty snappy auto-focus too. In the end, this lens is a compromise but it's still very good glass for the money. And if you want to shoot at 500mm handheld, it's the only game in town.

Joshua: Absolutely wonderful lens. I rented this to take photos of a fundraising event, where the participants rappelled off a 30-story skyscraper. I was able to get shots that the 70-200 shooters at the event simply couldn't. Here are my results: http://www.flickr.com/photos/54131977@N03/sets/72157627795939524/
