Ian: This lens is no better than my EF-s 18-55mm standard lens, I feel I was ripped off, not by borrowlenses but just in general, I don't see the difference in aperture of anything, bummed a lot, I rented this lens because all of the good reviews I read about it and i am shooting a weeding this weekend, but this lens is no wider than the stock lens that came on my camera, bummer bummer bummer, I find that the depth of field is the same as my stick lens too, so what is the point if this lens? I'm going to use it because I rented it, but I def could have done the wedding without it.

jenibo: I use this lens primarily for Wedding Photography, and I love it! When I first started out, I was using the 50mm 1.8 and this lens has made a HUGE improvement in the quality of my images. I've found that 28mm is a much better focal length on crop sensor cameras, and this really is a great, sharp, little lens. The only con I've found is it has some CA issues when used in full sunlight or very powerful flash, but it's not too noticeable unless you zoom in at 100%. Definitely not something that would cause me to pass this lens over completely.

Sean: Useful focal length, okay build quality, acceptable optical quality. This lens isn't the sharpest, and it sometimes has trouble autofocusing, but is acceptable for the price.
