Carolyn: This is the only lense I would consider buying outside of the L series for my camera. I feel the clarity of the images are just as good. And, while canon just put out an L series Fisheye, I just do not see myself dropping that amount of money for a lens I would just be using for fun because this lense is fun to use. It is great for landscape shots, high light, low light, middle light. The images turn out great. I enjoy that at this range, you still get the distorted effect without the vingetting you get at an 8mm range, even on a full frame camera. I never suggest fisheye for portrait photos or even group photos when you are looking for something to frame - but if you want to take a few hilarious group shots where you can get everyone in - this is the lense for it. The auto focus can be a little finicky, but on the fisheye, I did not find myself using the auto feature very much, if at all. The only issue I have is not being able to put a filter on this baby and being very afraid of scratching the lense because the cap does not snap or screw on, and tends to fall off if you are walking around with the camera.
Alice: This lens was a lot of fun! The 2.8 f stop was probably the thing that made my pictures come out so well with the bokeh. Although when on auto focus, the focusing made a whirring sound that kinda made me a little anxious. And the lens cap! Beware! The lens cap has a habit of falling off and making a LOUD noise when hitting the ground. (I took it with me to a museum and managed to turn heads and grab the attention of a security guard when it fell.) Overall, this is a great lens to have fun with friends. Strongly recommended to try out for those looking for the right fisheye.
Adam : Excellent fisheye lens, probably some of the best "non-L" glass Canon has, worked out great for interior shots on the inside of a house boat, and some interesting shots of Lake Powell. The auto focus is NOISY, and the lens cap won't stay on for anything. But all in all an excellent rental and a great fisheye for some fun effects.
