If I had to choose one lens, it would have to be the Canon 50 F1.2 L. Let's start with the obvious:

-it sports a super large aperture that allows the user to shoot hand held in almost any lighting situation, minus it being pitch black.
-50mm is one of the best focal lengths out there for portraits, and when put on a crop sensor body, becomes a small telephoto.
-Subjects come out tack sharp while backgrounds are creamy smooth. Bokeh is unmatched by any other prime out there, maybe except the Canon 50 1.0.

But it's the not so obvious things that make me choose this as the lens rental for me. It's not too big and heavy, when compared to the 24-70 F2.8, or the 70-200 IS2, both of which are great lenses. It's AF is relatively fast, unlike its big brother, the 85 1.2. My only complaint is that I can't put it down. This lens is suitable for almost any situation and does wonders in low light settings. This lens is just simply amazing.

Meredith : This was by and large the most amazing 50mm I've ever shot with. The bokeh was perfection! I was so thrilled by the results that I rent it for almost every shoot I do now. It provides such a beautiful result. The lens is on the heavier side, but really incredibly sharp. Had no problems at all with it. Other than the fact that I couldn't just keep it forever and ever.

Al: This is one of the best lenses you can get and the price here at borrowlens is also one of the best. The versatility of this lens is just remarkable. Shooting at 1.2 is very doable and shots at 1.2 are very sharp. I rented this lens with the 85L and I chose to use this lens the majority of the time. The 85L was a little too long for me. The 50L was used for a wedding and 100% sold me in the week that I had it. The Bokeh is very smooth and the best Ive got out of all my lenses. This is a great everyday lens and portrait lens. The focus was very fast. At night it was still fast and on point. There was no hunting at night time like I've had with other lenses. Give it a shot! Al
