Kao: So my church was going to have a photo day and being the main photographer I needed to find a wide angle lens and I thought I would give the EFS 18-200 a try. I've rented wide angle lens before and was pretty happy with the results but somehow this lens didn't work for me at all. Though it is wide, it did not give me the crisp clear photograph that I was looking for. I noticed that people around the edges were very blurry and there was nothing I can do about it. I was disappointed since I worked so hard on the photo session and the results were not what I had in mind. Even in a normal portrait session the lens did not focus well at all. If your looking for a good wide angle lens and are thinking about this one then I recommend you to pass this lens up.

Danielle: I rented this for a wedding because I was looking for something that would give me a lot of range. Well, this lens did that, to an extent. It is quite heavy, and I carried it around with the camera all day, and then added a flash for the reception! Needless to say my arms got a work out. I almost wish I had gone with a different lens, because although this one focused well and was fairly quiet, and the IS was quite good, rarely did I ever zoom to 200mm and the shots that I did at 200mm turned out poorly. I'm also probably not a very steady shooter, but I was also moving around a lot and didn't want to be constantly tripping over a tripod. I would imagine that with a tripod, the shake would be enough under control to produce some decent shots. Overall I'm okay with the performance of this lens, but it's not one I'd rent again or ever own. I mainly do portraiture and I just don't see myself needing a lens with this large of a range.
