The Sony PCM-D1 is a unique, lightweight, professional portable field recorder, using an internal 4GB of flash memory or the Memory Stick Pro as solid-state, mechanism-free storage solutions. The unit supports selectable recording resolutions of up to 24-bit/96kHz, and features a pair of sensitive built-in electret microphones in a stereo X/Y configuration.

The PCM-D1 supports the WAV file format, ensuring universal compatibility with editing software, and simplified cross-platform data transfer to either PC or MAC via the USB port 2.0 port. This recorder should suit the requirements of location sound and music recordists, or journalists.
