I rented this lens for a video shoot, yes I use my NEX-3 as a primary video camera. I simply wanted to put on a smaller lens with nice wide angle, and this did the trick. The lens worked great, images crisp, a little wide angle distortion, but that wasn't a problem. One thing that I did notice was that the lens seemed to have a really hard time in autofocus mode of getting locked in on close, macro objects. I didn't have the time to fiddle with things and see if I needed to set up something a little differently, so I am not sure if this is an issue with the lens, or just me not having things lined up in the settings. On the plus side, this lens did take great photos and video. It is light and small, making the camera extra easy to throw into a bag and go. On the not so plus side, I found that I needed to either crank the ISO to a high number, or crank the shutter speed way down and/or the iris way open to let good light in. On my stock 18-55 lens it doesn't seem that I have to open it up quite as much. Would I buy this lens? If I could find one used for a good price $100-150, probably. New for list price, probably not.
