Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S

Specifications

  • Focal Length: 50mm
  • Maximum Aperture: f/1.4
  • Minimum Focusing Distance: 18"
  • Angle of View: 46°
  • Filter Size: 58mm
  • Length: 2.1"
  • Weight: 0.62 lbs

Lens rental package includes: Front cap, rear cap, UV filter, and lens hood.

Description

This is Nikon's flagship 50mm lens, and it's everything you would expect from a lens of this caliber with one exception -- it has a plastic outer shell instead of an all-metal construction. Optically, it's every bit as sharp as the 50mm f/1.4 AF lens but has faster, silent auto-focus care of its Silent Wave Motor (SWM) system. It's also a "G" lens, so there's no aperture ring on the barrel.

Lisa: I loved renting this lens. It is SO sharp. It made my pics turn out very professional looking, even though I am only an amature who used it with a D5000. The bokeh is fantastic, and it seems to be the sharpest around f/2-3.5. The build quality is great, much more substantial than the 35mm f/1.8 that I usually used. This might be my most favorite out of all the lenses I have ever rented.

BSullivan: I'm just an amateur photographer (to the point where I'd be less likely to use the word "photographer" as much as "a guy who takes pictures"), but this was a great lens for me. It gave me some great pictures from my trip to Maine, especially when my son was running around. This was my first rental from BorrowLenses & it really was as easy as everyone made it out to be.

Adam : Excellent lens, VERY sharp, this lens is a needed lens when shooting FX, the auto focus is very fast and quiet, didn't seem to bother the dog I was photographing with it, even though some weird noises would bother her. Excellent bokeh on it, the large aperture helps for night shots. I usually used it around f/2 on a D3s and it performed beautifully. Excellent build quality, despite the lens being made with plastic. It is also very lightweight. Used the lens as well on a D60 (which is a DX/ 1.5x Crop camera) and it breathed some new life into the camera, the color reproduction is amazing with this lens.
