Description
The Canon EOS Rebel T3i has all the great DSLR features of the T2i with a few distinct differences. For video shooters the swivel screen will enable you to take odd angled shots and self portraits with great ease. The T3i incorporates integrated wireless Speedlight flash control for creative lighting system allowing you to control a flash remotely and eliminating the need for off-shoe camera cords. The software has been upgraded from the T2i as well. The new software delivers scene detection, auto white balance, picture style, auto lighting optimizer, auto exposure and auto focus. Like the Canon 7D the T3i allows for manual audio gain controls which can be especially useful when shooting in noisy areas and using external microphones. One thing this body has that no other Canon body offers yet is High Resolution 10x "Zoom" feature for video. The T3i is also made to be incredibly user friendly for beginners by offering creative filters to give your photos a unique look all within the camera. Creative filters include Soft Focus, Grainy Black and White, Miniature effect (similar to the effect of using Tilt Shift lenses), Toy Camera Effect and a Fish Eye effect.

Additionally, the EOS Rebel T3i is compatible with Eye-Fi SD cards.

Carolyn: This is a camera that I suggest to almost everyone of my friends that wants "a better camera" than a point and shoot. Usually, this means new parents, or parents that are realizing their kids are moving faster than their camera's can keep up with. Sitting around and waiting on the camera to record an image is no way to catch "Junior's" cute little whatever he just did. This camera is great for higher quality photos than your old fashioned point and shoot. It will get your those multiple frames in a row when the kids will not sit still. And, it is affordable. I have heard other photographers tell people, if they are going to go SLR, go all the way. And, if people can afford that, sure. But, not everyone can. I really feel that for what families and parents are going to be using this for, the quality is top notch. It is smaller than the other SLR cameras, lightweight, nice big LCD screen that is easy to see even in the sun. Plus, this has high quality video and sound on the camera. This camera does not HAVE to be only for parents or new families - this is just the camera I recommend to my friends who happen to be looking for that feature. I also rent this camera when I go on photo excursions with the boyfriend and I do not want him stealing my camera every time he wants to take a picture. It does not add a ton of weight to the camera bag and turns out just as good photos for what he is looking for as if he was using my 5d and making me miss a shot.
