You can't beat the 50mm f/1.2 in the package. It's phenomenal for portraits (everybody knows this). The 70-200mm was money in the bank, as usual. The 24-70mm was probably the most versatile lens in the package for group photos, portraits, candid shots, etc. I would however, love to see BL upgrade to the new 24-70 f/2.8 II in this package. I'm sure time will take care of that. As the same with my 24-105mm, there will be some distortion at the 24mm focal length around the edges. It slightly stretches the image. Nothing was ruined, just a little "imperfection" to the photographers' eye. I also shoot mostly natural light and used the flash a great bit during the wedding. I have never used a flash on my 5D Mark II, and I would highly recommend getting this package a couple days in advance and learning the science behind the Speedlight. If it will be your first time, as it was mine, you're going to be cursing it by the end of the night because you don't know what you're doing. It has a complicated interface at first glance and you need to familiarize yourself with it's functions. Other than that, great package deal.

Rental Package Includes:
If you already own a Canon body, and you want to take professional looking photos, then the Wedding Essentials Package for Canon is the perfect fit for you. Whether you shoot with a Rebel or a flagship 1D series, this combination covers most of your focal length needs. The 24-70mm Mk II satisfies your wide-angle and portrait needs. The 50mm is the fastest lens that Canon currently offers and allows you to shoot in low-light situations without the use of external flash. But if you do need a flash, the 600 EX-RT is also a part of this package. It will help illuminate areas that are poorly lit. Finally, the 70-200mm provides the ability to capture candid moments from a distance.
Soooo thankful that I rented this package! I've recently started using the 24-70mm and 70-200mm in my photography and I love the way they work. It was only right to rent this package for a wedding since they both were in the package, along with the flash. The one thing that I didn't really need was the 50mm f1.2 because I already have a 50mm f1.8. Boy was I wrong. The 50mm f.1.2 is such an amazing lens! It really does give you that super buttery background for portraits and it's fast! I'm definitely renting this package again for weddings! The only thing you'll need is a strong bag...and shoulder to carry it! :)
I had an upcoming wedding in a beautiful but dimly lit Catholic Church. I knew that I would need lenses that provided me image quality and a wide aperture. I began researching online and pricing out what I would need. ( shooting with 2 camera bodies). Once I priced it all out I realized that I could get the same gear for about the same price in this package. I decided not to use the 50mm. Since my primary lenses would be the 24-70 and 70-200, and I don't like to change lenses on location. Both lenses worked beautifully. I was able to capture so many fantastic candid moments with the telephoto lens. I'm smiling as I review my pictures. Because of the wide aperture I didn't have to get to crazy with the ISO which makes the pics look even better. These lenses worked great in my low light situation. I also rented a Gary Phong dome diffuser to go with the external flash. I was very happy with how it diffused my light.
