Arnt: compared to the EF-S 55-250, this is not a huge improvement. AF is not really faster, pictures are soft in the long range. Build quality is better, but that doesn't improve the pictures. I would rather consider the 70-200 f/4 IS or the 70-300 L version. If those are out of range budget wise and you shoot a crop camera, the EF-S 55-250 offers more value for the money.
