Laura: I really enjoyed using this camera. For the short time I had it I shot an evening baseball game and a wedding. Very impressed with its high ISO in low lighting situations. The focus system was a huge improvement. Because my primary camera is a Mark II N I did miss not having a battery grip. Otherwise everything else was great. Quick, easy shipping. Everything was in great shape!

Tyson: I recently rented the 5D Mark III to use as my primary camera while capturing images at a local fall festival. The festival presents a broad set of uniquely challenging photography conditions. I'm tasked with capturing everything from daytime pictures of kids on carnival rides to evening performances by live bands on stage. Last year while shooting at this same festival, I rented the 5D Mark II because of the full frame sensor, high ISO range, and overall excellent performance in natural and low light conditions. I was extremely pleased with the images I captured last year with the 5D Mark II, but I was absolutely blown away by the images I captured this year with the 5D Mark III! This camera is absolutely amazing. It's so amazing, in fact, that I barely utilized by secondary camera for anything other than an extra lens carrier. I put the 5D Mark III through its paces for 3 straight days - day light, evening, stage lighting, fireworks, fast-moving carnival rides, family portraits, live musical performances. I also shot in just about every format imaginable when it comes to lenses, equipped with the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM, Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM, and Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II. No matter what glass I attached to the 5D Mark III, my image quality, sharpness, color depth, and exposure were absolutely astounding. I was most blown away by the night time and low light performance of this camera. The camera features a much broader ISO range in comparison to the 5D Mark II, and also includes options for on-the-fly noise reduction. The quality of images that I was capturing during live band performances of the performers and the crowd at ISO levels as high as 12,800 are simply amazing. I was able to get GREAT exposure control from the camera while also keeping control of my shutter speeds to freeze the action of my subjects. Compared to the images I captured last year with the 5D Mark II, the images I captured with the 5D Mark III are leaps and bounds ahead. I also won't have to spend nearly as much post-production time correcting exposures or reducing noise on the nearly 2,500 captures I produced during the 3 days of shooting. The 5D Mark III is, to date, the best camera body I've ever had in my hands for my style of shooting. I suppose if you're a high-end sports photographer, you might be better off with a 1D body capable of higher FPS ranges. But if don't have any need for capturing images at 12 frames per second, then I'd contest that the 5D Mark III is the right camera. I plan to continue renting this gem of a camera body until I book enough work to purchase one of my own.

Rob: Not sure if there's more than one of these, but the one we rented in early October 2012 was in excellent shape, performed really well and was a joy to use. We had some challenging low-light situations to shoot and this camera did it exceptionally well. I got the Rode mic to go on the top, but I wish I'd saved the money, as the output audio from this beast is unusable. once you tone it down enough to get rid of the hiss, the resulting sound is too weak to use. Preamp it or just record audio on another device, but don't waste the money putting a mic on this camera. The footage, though, was amazing. We shot in red light (heat lamps) at an outdoor event at night, at 25000 ISO and things weren't even that grainy. Ridiculous, in a good way.

Bo: This is my first DSLR rental, taking a trip and wanted a better camera than the one on my Samsung SIII and moving up from the Sony cybershot. First thing I noticed, compared to cybershot this camera is quite heavy and bulky. It seems built like a tank and average a bit unless you are a bodybuilder it can really cause sore arms and hands... there wasn't an built in flash so I had also to rent an external flash. And then noticed the external flash had to have its own power supply, seperate from the camera... plus lens wasn't included in the rental and I had to rent a lens too... that was also a first. Lucky there was a scene intelligent mode to save the day, and its wierd having to use an old school optical viewfinder after all most digital cams these days just have the live finder... and when putting the lens on I realized this thing had a mirror that flips... just seemed old school for a top of the line profesional camera, especialy since my cell phone camera doesn't even need a mirror... Anyway, the picture quality was great.... after I spent half a day figuring out how to get RAW on my computer working... I have Photoshop CS5 and CS6 with latest updates from Adobe but it won't read this camera's raw format.... lightroom 4.2 worked but in windows explorer I had to download some Microsoft codec before it would show even the thumnails... boy I miss the jpeg days... I had then realized this camera has no on board memory at all, had to go buy a CompactFlash card, and it filled up quickly since an image was a whole 23MB+... even then, low light high ISO performance wasn't THAT much better than my phone... or maybe I wasn't doing it right... who knows... One thing I love about this camera is that it is designed to SHOOT. I can flip the off to on switch and less than half a second I already snapped a shot. Same can't be said for my cell phone or cybershot cam... This model had a slight scratch on the bottom with black paint rubbed off showing the bare medal, I thought suprising since this was supposed to be a relatively new camera... I checked the "mileage" on this thing using a shutter count utility and it already registered 27000+... that's nearly 20% of the lifespan of the rated 150,000+... I rented this for one month so Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get unlucky and have the shutter crap out on me before rental period is over... but boy I do love spraying and praying with this even at "only" 6fps this is sounds like a rapid fire stampler.... Debating whether after this rental I should get this model, a 1DX or wait for canon's next version which may be mirrorless.

Dana: The 5D MarkIII body is extremely capable and initially was overwhelming compared to my old D60 body. I mated the MarkIII to a 24-105L lense and the 70-200 2.8L lense along with the extended grip for a collossal setup. Borrow Lenses provided me with all the toys for a great experience. Should I not win the MarkIII then I may rent it again to fully appreciate the camera's capabilities that I did not get to try.
