• In his last post of the year, David Hobby talks about his experience taking part in DigitalRev.com’s Pro Tog, Cheap Camera series. Past participants have included Chase Jarvis and Zack Arias, among others, and the series has always been fun to watch.
  
• Speaking of Chase Jarvis, he’s got a great roundup of the year’s best images on his blog. Our favorite? Barak Obama and McKayla Maroney, not being impressed.
• And speaking of roundups, our friends over at PetaPixel have one of their 10 most popular posts of 2012. We love PetaPixel, and their site is on our must-read list.
• The “Wet Plate” method of photography is experiencing something of a resurgence, and inspired photographer Lauri Laukkenen enough that she put together a tutorial on how to do it in Photoshop.
• And finally, since are total and complete suckers for anything space-related, so when we saw this montage of shots from the ISS put together by Italian filmmaker Giacomo Sardelli, we had to share it.

Photoshop CS6 is out in public beta

• Unless you were hiding under a rock, you already know that Adobe released a public beta of Photoshop CS6. Check it out now at labs.adobe.com.
• This one’s a bit long, but awesome. Chase Jarvis and Superfad work together on an experimental fashion video with the Phantom camera. Here it is, for your viewing pleasure…
  
• Speaking of fashion, Israel has banned the display of ads showing overly thin models. Moreover, if an ad is digitally altered to make the model look thinner, then the ad must be labelled as such.
• 

  Oh my God! You killed Bunny!

  Folks, this gives a whole new meaning to the word “Timelapse.” PetaPixel has a great story about German photographer Michael Wesley, who has spent a good amount of time working on techniques for super-long exposures. I don’t mean hours, or even days. I mean years. Yeah, you read that right. His exposures are between two and three years.

• For the bird photographers among us, you’ll appreciate this. DIY Photography has a blog about using a Red Dot Sight to aim those massive superteles.
• Oh my God! You killed Bunny! You b@$t@rd! ‘Nuff said.
• From bunnies to lions, here’s an awesome story about NatGeo photographer Mattias Klum surviving an encounter with a lioness.
• Lighting geeks will love this. Now you can use open-source 3D app Blender to help you visualize lighting setups!

• Starting off with a little humor: the folks at DigitalRev have posted a trailer of a video they shot with Chase Jarvis. Chase, who has worked with bleeding-edge gear from RED, Nikon and others, now takes on… drumroll, please… a LEGO camera.
• Don’t know if you’ve heard, but it’s Christmas time! Our friends at DPS have come up with a list of gifts under $20 for photographers.
• Speaking of Christmas (and Chase Jarvis), the folks at creativeLIVE have a bunch of specials over at their site. Personally, I’ve bought so many videos there, I keep getting the “You already own this, dummy!” notice on a bunch of the specials pages. Still, as photographic education goes, it doesn’t get much better than creativeLIVE, so go take advantage of these deals!
• Travellers pay heed. PetaPixel has a great piece on how best to pack your camera gear if you HAVE to check it.
• Look, we encourage people to take up photography every day here at BorrowLenses.com. But even we did a double take on this post from Consumerist, which suggested that people take up photography as a way to earn a few extra bucks this holiday season. Thankfully, Popular Photography stepped up to the plate to explain why this may not be a great idea.
• Printing service Zazzle has a new tool that lets you visualize what your artwork would look like on your walls. If you ever wanted to check out what that image of your cat looks like in your living room, blow up to 20“ x 30”, now you can.
• What happens in the club, stays in the club – at least as far as flash photography goes. Beer company Cerveza Norte has developed a flash-blocking beer cooler. Take that, paparazzi!
• Look out! He’s on fire! He’s ablaze! He’s… lit with glow-sticks? Light painter Dennis Calvert presents this time lapse video of the making of one of his amazing images.
